Labor Day Cruise-Out

Labor Day Race / Cruise-Out to the Vallejo Yacht Club

2017 Labor Day Weekend, Sep. 2 – 4

(in lieu of Chicken Ship Regatta)

YO HO HO! AND A BARREL OF FUN!
Let’s all go to Vallejo!

Once again the Vallejo Yacht Club is hosting our vessels for a fun-filled Labor Day Weekend.
We should have a name for this event. Something special to remember it by. We can’t call it the Great Vallejo
Race (that’s already taken). Nor can we call it the Vallejo Ha! Ha! (too similar to the popular Baja Ha Ha). I
propose we call it the Vallejo Ho Ho! Let’s make it a contest. Participants please bring your best naming idea
with you for all to judge.
MMBA member vessel “Serena”, owners Scott Green and Chris Wagner, are also members of the Vallejo Yacht Club.
They are making arrangements for our dinner and entertainment Saturday evening. This year it will be a Greek
themed evening.
Please complete and send in the participation form along with your check to pay for dinner(s), $25 each dinner.
No-host bar will be open.

As always, our members are encouraged to bring musical instruments for additional impromptu entertaining.  Sunday evening will be “The General Vallejo Memorial Tapas Party”. Make your own tapa on board and enter it in the “Best Tapa Contest”. (See Google for tapa definition.) We are working on a possible tour of the Training Ship “Golden Bear” which will just be returning from their Pacific 2017 Summer Training Cruise. There will be
more information about this later.

SAT. SEPT. 2nd – RACE/CRUISE INSTRUCTIONS

As in the past, this fall event will be a race/cruise. The choice is yours. Racers should meet at Southampton Shoal on Saturday, September 2nd. The start will be at 1000 hours. The start line will be between the anchored committee boat and the Eastern shore. In the event of no committee boat… racers will start with a ready/set/go on VHF Channel 68. The finish line will be between Mare Island Strait entrance buoys G”1″ and R”2″. Take your own finish time.
All vessels are reminded to stay clear of the Pinole shipping lane. Do not enter or cross this restricted area.  It is clearly marked on your chart.
Be prepared to raft-up with fenders upon arrival at the Vallejo Yacht Club. They will assist with berth assignments and tie-ups. See their website, vallejoyc.org, for cruise-in details.

Let’s make this a good turn-out!  We hope to see you in Vallejo.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS, PLEASE!
